‘You'll Never Walk Alone’ is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel. It has been sung by Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Elvis Presley amongst others. In the UK, the most successful recording was released in 1963 by Gerry and the Pacemakers reaching #1 in the singles chart for four consecutive weeks. The song became the anthem of Liverpool Football Club and is invariably sung at the start of each home game. The words ‘You'll Never Walk Alone’ also feature in the club crest and on the Shankly Gate entrance to Anfield, the home stadium.
